Finkenauer Announces New Grant to Combat Youth Substance Abuse
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer (IA-01) on Monday announced youth substance-abuse prevention grants totaling $500,000 for four northeast Iowa communities.
The Drug-Free Community Support Grants from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were awarded to the North Fayette Valley Community Coalition; Jackson County; Decorah-based Helping Services for Youth & Families, Inc.; and the Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District.
Each organization will receive a grant of $125,000 to continue ongoing drug-abuse prevention and reduction programs for young people.
"We must work together to support our communities in the prevention of drug-abuse among young people,” Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer said. “These grants provide needed resources for community-based programming to prevent and reduce drug abuse and ensure our kids have the best possible future."
