With the spread of Coronavirus on everyone’s mind, I want to make sure you and your family have the important information you need.

We should be looking out for each other right now and taking precautions to protect those among us who might be at risk of getting the virus. I urge everyone to stay informed and use the state’s hotline (2-1-1) for any questions and to stay up to date.

Preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, include: 

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.

If you are sick, to keep from spreading respiratory illness to others, you should:

  • Stay home except to get medical care 
  • Call ahead before visiting your doctor
  • Wear a facemask
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes
  • Avoid sharing personal household items
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.

Information for Veterans

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs says it has administered over 322 COVID-19 tests nationwide while taking aggressive steps to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

The VA is recommending any Veteran with symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath should immediately contact their local VA facility. VA urges Veterans to call before visiting:

CDC recommends that travelers avoid all nonessential travel to most of EuropeChina, Iran, and South Korea. CDC also advises that older adults and those with chronic medical conditions consider postponing nonessential travel to Japan.
